WEAPON IMPROVISATION

Writer: Jermaine AndreJermaine Andre

REQUIREMENTS OF EVERYDAY ITEMS TO QUALIFY FOR CONVERSION INTO A WEAPON:

We must understand what qualifies an everyday item to be converted into a weapon of necessity.  The item must have the ability to cause a certain effect when used in an adapted way.  Here are some of the requirements that qualify an everyday item as a tool that can be converted into a self-defense weapon:

  1. It has IMPACT (bone crushing) potential

  2. It has CUTTING (skin, tendon, organs) potential

  3. It has PUNCTURING (organs) potential

  4. It has BLINDING (temporary or permanent) potential

  5. It has CHOKING (fatal or non-fatal) potential

  6. It has DIS-ORIENTING potential

Here are some traits that are not necessary to qualify an item as a tool that can be improvised into a weapon, but they do make an improvised weapon “better”!:

  1. It is CONCEALABLE

  2. It is EASILY ACCESSIBLE

  3. It is EASILY CONVERTED

  4. It is UNDETECTABLE

  5. It is DISPOSABLE

Advantage of having the weaker weapon

Those 5 traits of the improvised weapons can give you an advantage over even those with bigger, more sophisticated weapons.  Because no matter how powerful the weapon is that an individual is showing, the ones who aren’t showing their weapons have the advantage of stealth (surprise) over him or her.
