"Why didn't they help!?"
These are the famous words you see on social media threads from people who are responding from the safety behind their computers about an assault that someone video taped and posted. Well, allow me to give you 5 reason on why people don't "get involved" and would rather film it instead.
#1. They are afraid of getting hurt themselves by the persons involved or their yet to be identified friends.
#2. They aren't really sure of who the good or bad guy is.
#3. They don't know HOW to help.
#4. They film to provide evidence to law enforcement of the incident.
#5. They want to post it on their social medias to hopefully go "viral" and get attention like a SUPA STAR!
If you do ever find yourself in a position to "have" to intervene a fight that is about to go to fisty cuffs, here are 3 things that you want to do for your own safety and to stay righteous...
#1. NEVER step in between the two who are about to "get down"! Make your approach from BEHIND one of them.
#2. Do not "attack" either of them as the "bad" person because you DO NOT know the full story until they have a chance to give their testimony about the things that you did not see and hear.
#3. It is your LEGAL & ETHICAL DUTY to protect the person that you restrain from ANY & ALL other possible attacks! This is because when you restrain him, you are taking away his or her potential to protect himself.
